Development and Application of Schema Based Occupant-Centric Building Performance Metrics

Occupant behavior can significantly influence the operation and performance of buildings. Many occupant-centric key indicators (KPIs) rely on having accurate counts number occupants in a building, which is very different to how occupancy information currently collected majority buildings today. To address this gap, authors develop standardized methodology for calculation percent space utilization buildings, formulated with respect two prevalent operational data schemas: Brick Schema Project Haystack. The scalable across levels spatial granularity irrespective sensor placement. Moreover, methods are intended make use typical sensors that capture presence level not people. Since occupant-hours preferable metric KPI calculations, method convert between using design also developed. demonstrated small commercial office Boulder, Colorado June 2018 February 2019. A multiple linear regression performed shows strong evidence relationship building energy consumption utilization.
